Title: Emergency medical care provided to children at the prehospital stage in Republic of Moldova on 2017 – 2019 years

Abstract: Introduction. Children are our future and ensuring their healthy growth and development must be the most important task for all communities. Purpose. Evaluation of pediatric emergency medical care (EMC) at the prehospital stage in 2017-2019 years. Material and methods. The study was conducted based on the examination and retrospective statistical analysis of the Request Sheets of the National Centre of Prehospital Emergency Medicine in Republic of Moldova from 2017-2019. Results. In 2019 National Centre of Prehospital Emergency Medicine given EMC to 159.309 children or 19.4% of the total number of served emergencies calls (requests), compared to 181.163 or 20.9% respectively in 2017. Transported to the Emergency Department / Emergency Unit / Emergency Room in 2019 were 86.712 of the children or 54,4% of total no. of pediatric requests, in 2017 – 87.188 or 48,1% respectively, of which 50,5% (2017 – 48,6%) from urban areas and 49,5% (2017 – 51,4%) from rural areas. In the structure of pediatric emergencies by profile, on the first place was the respiratory emergencies, representing in 2019 – 52,1%, in 2018 – 52,2% and in 2017 – 46,5%, see Figure 1. Conclusions. Pediatric requests are declining, but the transportation rate increased by 6.3% in 2019 compared to 2017. In the reference years, on the first place were the pediatric respiratory emergencies.
