Abstract: The anti-inflammatory activity of the polyphenol and polysaccharides extracts of aerial parts of Centaurea cyanus L. were investigated using acute rat model (histamine-induced paw edema). Both extracts demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity. The effect was found to be more pronounced in case of polyphenol extract. This bioactivity compared favorably with diclofenac sodium, which was used as positive control, thus showing usefulness of this plant for the treatment of inflammation.
