Abstract: | The extension of the drug resistance and the great number of M.tuberculosis strains resistant to anti TB drugs has currently become a major problem in the control of this infection in the majority of countries with high incidence of tuberculosis. This led to the increase of the number of treatment failure cases and the number of chronic patients. It is a dangerous phenomenon because it can lead to incurable forms of tuberculosis, because anti TB drugs are rarely made. This phenomenon can have serious repercussions so that the global incidence of tuberculosis in the 21st century can be worse than that from the 50s of the last century. If the number of TB cases in the world continues to grow and the level of tuberculosis resistance to drugs increases, due to above mentioned factors, TB may become an incurable disease in the 21st century. In this way, WHO has claimed this phenomenon of a great global importance, and the researches made in this direction - of a major priority. WHO recommend that in the countries with a high tuberculosis morbidity to study the frequency of the primary and secondary resistances of M.tuberculosis and the dates to be given to this instance for the assessment of this problem in a world context. |
