Abstract: The twentieth century was characterized by a focus on research of biologically active proteins and peptides. As a result a number of peptides with heterogeneous structures, properties and functions, but with important implications in metabolism and functions of various organs and tissues have been found and studied. The relaxin and insulin-like peptides form such a group of peptides which affects the functions of cardiovascular, urogenital, central nervous systems etc.
