Solitary kidney cyst is one of the most frequent kidney pathologies, being determined in approximately half of the necropsy cases. Currently, this pathology diagnosis is significantly improved due to various imaging diagnostic modalities, such as intravenous urography, abdominal ultrasound, computer tomography and magnetic resonance investigation. This scientific work analyses data available in specialized literature regarding solitary cyst etiology, pathogenesis, classification, clinical picture and contemporary diagnosis methods. The deeper knowledge of these topics will essentially contribute to the treatment method selection, possible complications reduction and recurrence prevention.en
