In this article is presented the news related to treatment and diagnostic approaches of the portal hypersplenism that nowadays represents an actual problem of health. Understanding of the pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of portal hypertension has drastically changed during the last years, but it continues to be a frequent cause of morbidity and mortality. This fact is due to the distressful increasing of its prevalence. A better prognosis is possible only by elucidating the mechanism which produced the dysfunction hemodynamic portal and by promoting an aggressive therapeutic approach.en
