Autoimmune thyroiditis is one of the most common causes of primary hypothyroidism. Autoimmune thyroiditis affects 5-7% of the adult population, according to some authors – up to 20-40%. The natural evolution of the disease is characterized by a gradual loss of thyroid function. Up to 5% of people with latent hypothyroidism become clinically manifest. In the development of Hashimoto thyroiditis participate genetic and environmental factors – infection, stress, sex steroids, pregnancy, iodine intake, exposure to radiation, etc. The clinical picture of hypothyroidism caused by autoimmune thyroiditis is polymorph. We determined that muscular system, teguments, neuropsychiatric and cardiovascular systems are the most often affected. It has been found that elevated levels of TSH determine the vegetative changes of the cardiovascular system and the more obvious cognitive psychoemotional disturbances.en_US
