Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is associated with various hepatobiliary disorders, reported in both ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. The few epidemiological studies on UC and the interrelations with viral hepatic pathology which have been published, established the data not to be currently clear and represent a challenge for any researcher. The information generated from the studies on the analysis of HBV and / or HCV interrelationship in UC evolution conducted so far are unique and requires a new approach in the gastroenterologists’ practice. The need for the conduct of such study occurred due to the lack of data available so far on the interrelation of viral hepatic pathology in the evolution of UC in patients in the Republic of Moldova.en_US
