Morphological modifications of the conducting pathways of the wall of the superior vena cava are revealed by their argentafiliation, varicosity and tumefaction. Destructive changes are revealed by different degrees of fragmentation, even until punctiform ones. Topographically they prevail in the middle part of the SVC, where predominates one of the main sources of innervation, that contains afferent nervous fibers.
