We performed a thorough literature review regarding the pathologic role of the chronic hepatotropic viral infections in dialysed population. In this article the following infections evolution and complications were discussed: viral hepatitis C and B infections as well as herpesviridae family infections such as herpes simplex infections (type I and II), Epstein-Barr virus infection (herpes virus type IV and VIII) and Cytomegalovirus infection (herpes virus type V). Although, their clinical and biological manifestations are usually limited in the studied population, these infections importantly increase the risk of death and eventually reduce the patients quality of life. Their persistence also negatively influences the kidney graft prognosis.
