Abstract The paper presents a comprehensive study of the dynamics of statistical indicators of congenital malformations in the pediatric population in Moldova during 2004-2015. The study analyzes some aspects which lead to child morbidity and which are reflected in the National Program for Prevention and Reduction of Child Mortality and Morbidity by birth defects and hereditary diseases, for the period 2013-2017. The practical value of the research consists in providing extensive information on a 12 year period and presents arguments and proposals for intervention in the medical activity at national level. In order to solve the problem under discussion, public policies guidelines are proposed for preventing the congenital malformations phenomenon and increasing the average life expectancy and quality of life in Moldova.en_US
