Abstract: In normal acinar cells, trypsin activity is properly suppressed by SPINK1, that acts as the first line of defence against prematurely activated trypsinogen. Study subjects were 100 patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) and 100 healthy people. The N34S/SPINK1 mutation was determined in the venous blood by the restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) reaction. The study demonstrated the high N34S mutation presence in the population of RM, mainly in CP patients, most commonly in the pseudotumoral form of CP, in homozygous. The people with the mutation N34S/SPINK1 in a homozygous form have a 5.47 times higher risk of developing CP.
