Title: One Health & Risk Management. 2022, Vol. 3, No. 2
Abstract: One Health & Risk Management is a biannual scientific journal for specialists in medical and biological sciences, which was founded in 2019 within the Moldavian Biosafety and Biosecurity Association (MDBBA). The journal accepts submissions in Romanian, English, French and Russian, in accordance with current international standards and guidelines. The Journal policy is aligned with the new concepts of international organizations (WHO, OIE FAO, etc.), such as One Health Approach, enclosed within a cooperative, multisectoral, transdisciplinary, national and international framework. The current state of the contemporary world in terms of depth and dynamics of changes, as well as the accelerated rate of research and innovation on evidence-based risk management, generate a progressive growth in the amount of medical and biological data. Therefore, One Health & Risk Management Journal will support and publish manuscripts based on scientific evidence on human, animal and environmental health. The priority for acceptance would be given to those articles which report study results on identification of specific hazards and risk assessment associated with these hazards, development and analysis of potential risk management options, as well as selection and implementation of a specific monitoring and evaluation strategy used for risk management. The rigorous review process (double-blind peer review) will involve professionals from various scientific fields, who comply with the international ethical guidelines for scientific publications. One Health & Risk Management magazine will increase its visibility by exchanging articles with other relevant publications and collaborating with similar national and international organizations, as well as via its website, which includes the recently published articles, providing the opportunity to get real-time information (Free Open Access). The editorial board of the magazine brings together outstanding personalities, both from the country and abroad, who help to maintain the journal to the highest scientific standards.

Authors: Gorea, Alexandru; Stoica, Mihaela; Scorpan, Anatolie; Sarbu, Oxana; Istrati, Valeriu
Abstract: Introduction. Mesenteric panniculitis is a rare medical condition. Its incidence is between 0.16%-3.4%. The small number of cases of PM and the ignorance of its causes, pathogenesis and treatment significantly affect the prognosis of the disease. Materials and methods. An analysis of the literature and the case of patient R, aged 47, who is admitted in the Public Medico-Sanitary Institution, is presented. Results. Accusations: periumbilical pain, marked physical asthenia and significant weight loss. In the left abdominal flank, a tumor of 9.0x14.0 cm was palpated, soft as consistensy, elastic, sensitive to palpation, fixed to the deep planes. Clinical examination and abdominal CT examination led to the diagnosis of mesenteric panniculitis. Drug treatment with NSAIDs and corticosteroids had a favorable outcome, confirming the autoimmune etiology of PM. Conclusions. Mesenteric panniculitis is a rare pathology and its diagnosis is difficult to establish. The drug treatment with NSAIDs and corticosteroids can lead to good and lasting clinical results.; Introducere.

Modification of oxidative stress indices in cultures of pathogenic microorganisms under the influence of novel chemical compounds

Title: Modification of oxidative stress indices in cultures of pathogenic microorganisms under the influence of novel chemical compounds
Authors: Lozan-Tirsu, Carolina; Zariciuc, Elena
Abstract: Introduction. It is known that excessive formation of hydrogen peroxide in the microbial cultures under the action of chemical compounds with antibacterial effects is the first stage in the formation of oxidative stress. Thus, it became appropriate to conduct a study that would make it possible to control the level of oxidative stress induced by chemical compounds in cultures of pathogenic microorganisms. Material and methods. The objects of the in vitro study were Cu(II) coordination compounds; Co(II), Zn(II) and aromatic propenones synthesized at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry of the State University of Moldova. Antimicrobial activity was tested on 5 reference strains. The level of oxidative stress was controlled using the hydrogen peroxide test, and the level of lipid peroxidation was determined indirectly by monitoring the product of peroxidation, namely the malondialdehyde. Results. Under the action of new chemical compounds with antimicrobial properties on reference cultures of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Bacillus cereus ГИСК 8035, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Shigella sonnei ATCC 25931 and Salmonella enterica (Salmonella abony ГИСК 03/03y) in cultures that create a state of oxidative stress, confirmed by the accumulation of hydrogen peroxide and lipid peroxidation products. Conclusions. Thus, the process of lipid peroxidation, which follows the pattern of chain reactions, is one of the reactions that lead to the death of cell culture. The level of hydrogen peroxide formed under the action of the tested compounds was also monitored.; Introducere.
