Abstract: | Abstract
The study was performed on 156 cases (42 ultrasounds and 114 angioCT’s), measuring the caliber of the iliac arteries
and performing a comparison between the size of these arteries and by gender. The right common iliac arteries showed a
caliber between 6.9 to 14.9 mm, in males being 7.5 to 14.9 mm while in females from 6.9 to 11.7 mm. On the left common
iliac arteries the caliber was between 6.2 to 13.7 mm in men and in females was in the range 7.3 to 11.3 mm. The caliber
of the external iliac arteries was found between 5.3 to 13.1 mm in males and 5.6 to 11.1 mm in females. The right external
iliac artery had a caliber of 6.0 to 13.1 mm in men and in women from 5.6 to 11.1 mm. The left external iliac arteries were
5.3 to 12.3 mm caliber in men and in women from 5.7 to 9.8 mm. The internal iliac arteries showed a caliber of 2.5-10 mm,
in male from 2.5 to 9.8 mm and 3.1 to 10 mm in females. In males, the left internal iliac arteries showed a 2.5 to 9.6 mm
caliber while the right ones were 3.0 to 9.8 mm. In females, the left internal iliac artery caliber was 3.1 to 10 mm and the
right iliac arteries showed a caliber of 4.4 to 8 mm. |
