Genetic studies in recent decades have proven the importance of CFTR gene mutations in the pathophysiology of chronic pancreatitis (CP). The aim of the study was to determine the frequency of R117H (CFTR) mutation in CP patients in Moldova vs healthy people. The results revealed a higher, statistically signicant, frequency of the mutation R117H (CFTR) in CP patients vs healthy people, in homozygous variant, predominantly in the patients with latent CP and a frequent combination with the other mutations (N34S/SPINK1 and R122H/ PRSS1), which reflects the high degree of risk posed by these mutations in the heterogeneous population of Moldova.en_US
