Abstract: | Summary
Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is now the prevalent treatment for the reno-ureteral
lithiasis. In 10 year (1991-2001) since we performe ESWL in our clinic, we practised 10342 treatments
to 7343 patients with reno-ureteral calculi: We had patients with single or multiple stones, unilateral
or bilateral, radioopaques or radiolucents, placed in the kidney or in the unter. In 81,43% of cases
we performed monotherapy ESWL and to 18,57% of patients we used different auxiliary procedures
(percutaneous, endoscopies and radiologic). To 97,79% of patients the stones were desintegrate
after one or more ESWL treatments. In 2,21% of patients ESWL was not successful, thafs why we used
other surgical procedures, also less invasive, to remove the stone. The stone-free rate at 3 month
was 89,37%. |
