Abstract: | Introduction. Pelvic trauma is one of the most difficult problems in lesion surgery, and its prevalence is
3-7% of the total number of lesions of the musculoskeletal system. Ilio-sacral fixation is performed to
restore the integrity of the posttraumatic pelvic ring.
Aim of study. In this presentation, we intend to present ilio-sacral stabilization as a treatment method
available in severe-unstable pelvic fractures, with the recommendations of various specialists, to evaluate
the results of surgical treatment.
Methods and materials. We surgically treated and dynamically examined patients hospitalized at the
Institute of Emergency Medicine, Chisinau with diagnostically unstable pelvic fractures during the period
2019-2022 operated on by ilio-sacral fixation as the only method of fixation or in combination with other
fixations.
Results. All patients were verticalized and discharged up to the 7th postoperative day. Septic and
neurological complications, both early and late, have not been reported in this type of fixation.
Complications such as degradation of osteosynthesis material in the study group were not recorded. Iliosacral
fixation could be used either as the sole method of fixation or in combination with other pelvic
fixations both internal and external. Satisfactory bone block was formed in all patients.
Conclusion. 1) Ilio-sacral fixation is a method of internal osteosynthesis recently proposed and used
successfully in both pelvic trauma. 2) Ilio-sacral fixation allows a firm stabilization and early mobilization
of the patient. |
