dc.description.abstract | Background: The prevalence of type 2 diabetes is increasing in all populations worldwide. Aim: To calculated the 10 year estimated risk of acquiring type 2 diabetes for patient with cytolysis syndrome. Methods: 80 persons older than 18 years of age with cytolysis syndrome and 20 subjects with normal activity of transaminases were included in study. The 10 - years risk of developing diabetes type 2 was calculated according to the QDScore diabetes equation. The risk score were categorized using predefined cutoffs as intermediate ≤ 20% , high > 20%. Results: Predicting risk for type 2 DM according to the QDScore was increased in patients with cytolysis syndrome which used ethanol less than 20 ml per day compared with controls, high risk - 66% vs 40% cases (p=0,0001), but with cytolysis syndrome which used ethanol more than 20 ml per day cases – 66% vs 50% cases (p=0,014) respective. Conclusions: Patients with cytolysis syndrome had increase 10-years risk developing of type 2 diabetes vs controls matched by age and sex. | en_US |
