Abstract: Abstract Background: Salmonellosis is a type of food poisoning caused by the bacteria Salmonella, that annually affects a considerable number of people. Starting with 2008 the morbidity of salmonellosis in Orhei county of the Republic of Moldova has had a continuing increase, for the last years the highest levels of morbidity in the country have been recorded there. One of the reasons have been group morbity outbreaks. Material and methods: To take into account some epidemiological features of salmonellosis the morbidity caused by this infection has been subjected to the epidemiological analysis in the period of 2003-2012. The data from the statistical reports on some infectious and parasitic diseases, the reports on the status of the state supervision of public health and the records of the microbiology laboratory have served as the informational landmarks. Results: Salmonella has kept the priority of affecting primarily the early age children, having its incidence by 4.5 times higher in comparison with the adult population. For the last 5 years the outbreaks of cystitis, prostatitis, pyelonephritis have been more frequently registered among the urban population, the cause being a more pronounced centralized provision of food. Conclusion: The microbiological investigations have shown that the epidemic process is maintained by Salmonella enteritidis in 63.8% of cases and by Salmonella typhimurium – in 32.4%of cases.
