Abstract: | Summary. Urethral stricture is an important problem in modern urology, considering a significant affection of the life quality of the urology patients, especially through the frequently associated urinary infections (57% of the studied patients used to have initially positive urine cultures) manifested through disuria (37,4%) and other signs of the general infectious syndrome (11,4%). Stranguria (32%) and severely affected intermittent urinary flow (12,6%) also contribute to the reduction of the patients’ life quality. 3 different bacterial families predominate in patients with urethral stricture: E. colli, Proteus spp. and Staphyloccocus spp., which are responsible for ¾ of positive urine cultures. Specific complications of the urethral stricture were relatively frequent: chronic urinary retention – 12,6% and acute urinary retention – 0,9%. |
