<title>Controlled reperfusion and oxidative stress-induced lesions in experimental ovarian torsion/detorsion</title>
<link>http://repository.usmf.md:80/xmlui/handle/20.500.12710/13059</link>
<description>Controlled reperfusion and oxidative stress-induced lesions in experimental ovarian torsion/detorsion
Lazăr, Cornelia; Tagadiuc, O.; Misina, A.; Vozian, M.; Pantea, V.
Ovarian torsion (OT), being a medical emergency,&#13;
requires being correctly treated in the early stages of the&#13;
disease, because reperfusion (R) injury may worsen&#13;
existing lesions, leading to ovarian loss.&#13;
The purpose of our study was to investigate the&#13;
advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP) changes in&#13;
rats’ serum subjected to different OT/detorsion models.&#13;
Materials and methods. 70 healthy female rats (Rattus&#13;
albicans), were randomized into 7 groups (n=10): nr. 1:&#13;
healthy rats – no intervention; nr. 2: the sham group&#13;
(laparotomy); nr. 3, 4 and 5 – OT for 3 hours and 3 hours&#13;
ischemia with 1 hour R or 1 hour “on-off “ R; nr. 6 and 7: 3&#13;
&#13;
hours OT and 24 hours R or 24 hours “on-off “ R. The “on-&#13;
off method”: controlled R by opening and closing the clips&#13;
&#13;
that were applied on the ovarian annexes (on/off) in 10-&#13;
seconds intervals, for a total of 120 seconds.&#13;
AOPP level wàs measured in the blood serum samples&#13;
by Capeillère-Blandin C., et al. method (2004). The results&#13;
were analyzed by Welch’s ANOVA.&#13;
Results. A statistically significant higher AOPP&#13;
level was established in rats’ serum to 24 hours R following&#13;
OT (mean±SE, 33,23±0,59 μM/L, p=0,001), compared&#13;
with group nr. 1. The “on-off “ reperfusion method resulted&#13;
in a decrease in AOPP, 24 hours after “on-off “ reperfusion&#13;
(26,58±0,56 μM/L, p&lt;0,001).&#13;
Conclusions: “On-off” method of R minimizes the&#13;
reperfusion injury in OT.
