Information literacy in the context of lifelong learning

Abstract

This article reveals the role and the place of the university libraries in the lifelong learning process through formal and informal education. The library is positioned as an institution that offers opportunities for lifelong learning not only by providing access to information resources but also by cultivating the skills to find, evaluate, analyze and synthesize information. In this context, increases the importance of training the beneficiaries in order to form the information component of the professional culture. Thus, the graduate is prepared not only professionally but also informationally for lifelong learning, making him / her competitive on the labor market. The article also reflects the results of the survey, which reveals the beneficiaries' opinion regarding the Information Culture classes, organized by the Medical Scientific Library SUMPh "Nicolae Testemitanu".
