dc.description.abstract Abstract. The anatomical structures of the species Polygonum sachalinense, from the collection of the Botanical Garden, grown in the pedoclimatic conditions of the Republic of Moldova, were studied. The microscopic examination performed on cross sections and surface preparations revealed specific anatomical features: the presence of calcium oxalate druses and starch granules, collenchyma and sclerenchyma in stems, multicellular protective hairs and multicellular glands with browned content in leaves. The biometric study performed on a set of morphological indices (stem height, stem diameter, number of internodes, length of internodes, number of ramifications, number of leaves, length and width of leaves) indicates that P. sachalinense accumulates large amounts of biomass. en_US
