Abstract: | Background. Atrial fibrillation is one of the great problems that cardiologists around the world
are trying to solve, according to the World Heart Federation (WHF) between 1990 and 2013. The
total number of diagnosed AF cases has increased globally from less than 7 million to over 11
million, and this number continues to grow. The prevalence of AF varies between 0.5% and 1%
in the general population and increases in relation to age, exceeding 6% among subjects over 80
years old. The incidence of AF is between 0.21 and 0.41 per 1 000 persons/year. It is estimated
that by 2030, 14 - 17 million patients in the European Union will suffer from AF, plus 120 000 -
215 000 newly diagnosed patients per year. Taking into account th upper mentioned data, we
decided to examine atrial fibrillation complications, evaluate anticoagulant treatment and
maintenance of therapeutic INR importance in patients with AF, as well as the value of
kinetotherapy in patients with stroke. |
