Abstract: The influence of some new local biologically active compounds (BAC) on renal lysosomal hydrolases (RLH) in ethylene glycol (EG) poisoning was investigated. The tested BAC demonstrated a pronounced tropic effect on lysosomes, influencing in different ways the activity of RLH and modifying the functional status of lysosomal apparatus. The complex compounds − CMD-4, CMD-8 and CMJ-23, remedies BioR and BioR-Ge significantly reduced the functionality of cathepsins B, H and of elastase. CMJ-23 decreased the activity of cathepsin G, b-glucosidase, arylsulfatases A, B and C, which showed the high responsiveness of these hydrolases to the action of BAC. CMD-8 increased the activity of cathepsin D, b-glucosidase and of N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase. The remedy BioR normalized the activity of elastase, while BioR-Ge increased the acid phosphatase. The increased activity of RLH in the administration of the tested BAC, can be considered as a reaction of compensation-adaptation of the body, aimed to enhance the biodegradation of damaged molecules resulted from the toxic action of EG and of its metabolic products.
