Abstract: This paper is carried out in the literature review and aims at revealing morphological and functional features of the human brain neural networks and their involvement in physiological and pathological processes. Their functionality is mediated by neurotransmitters. The balance of neural networks contributes to the proper functioning of cognitive processes - learning and memorizing, regulation of emotion, motivation. The imbalance of neural networks causes numerous pathologies such as depression, Alzheimer’s disease, Schizophrenia. Dysfunction of several neurotransmitter systems makes it difficult to establish a proper treatment in order to ensure the patient's full recovery.
