Abstract: The clinical, immunological, virological and epidemiological data were collected in 149 adult patients diagnosed with HIV/AIDS infection. Late diagnoses were defined as a CD4 count of < 350 cells/µl and/or an AIDS associated condition. More than half (63,09%) of the investigated patients had at the time of diagnosis severe immunosuppression and/or clinical AIDS, a much higher proportion compared to that of approximately 15 – 38%, described in Europe. The most frequent AIDS related conditions were oropharyngeal candidiasis, tuberculosis and wasting syndrome.
