Abstract: Nervus terminalis is the foremost cranial nerve. Although its existence in man was discovered almost a century ago, it remains the least described cranial nerve and modern anatomy textbooks give just a discreet reference about its existence without clarifying its phylogenetic, ontogenetic, morphologic or functional peculiarities. This article aims at giving a systematization of the results of multiple researches on nervus terminalis and highlighting its features.
