Abstract: Summary. Prostate cancer is considered to be one of the main health problems affecting men and is responsible for 9% of deaths from cancer of the male population. Although prostate-specific antigen (PSA) allows diagnosis of the disease at an early stage, prostate biopsy remains the main stage in the diagnostically process. The paper based on literature review and personal experience of about 460 guided biopsies of the prostate, describes performing technique, incidents and complications occurring, and their prevention methods. In compliance with patient training standards and a correct technical execution, guided prostate biopsy is easy, with minimal risk and superior results compared with other methods of prostate biopsy.
