Summary Hydronephrosis is a progressive dilation of different degrees of renal pelvis, accompanied by secondary atrophic lesions of the renal parenchyma. Clinical symptoms are irrelevant and usually have no characteristic signs according to the stage of the disease and to the evolution of complication. During the years 2008 - 2013, in the Clinic of Urology, Dialysis and Renal Transplantation of Republican Clinical Hospital, were prospectively evaluated 123 patients diagnosed with hydronephrosis. Unilateral disease was found in 112 (91%) patients, bilateral 9 (7.3%) patients, solitary kidney was affected in 2 (1.6%) patients, relapsing hydronephrosis -12 (9,75%). Left kidney was involved in 58 (47.15%) cases, the right in 56 (45.5%) cases. Back pain was present in 96.75% (119). A palpable mass was revealed in 12 patients. Arterial hypertension was found in 19 cases. Gastrointestinal disorders occurred in 12 patients. Kidney stones were found in 17 patients, in 13 of them had urinary tract infections in anamnesis.
