Abstract: | Abstract
Background: The digestive system, being inside of an organism, has direct contact with the external environment
through the products which come from there. The aim of this study is to research features of the wall’s structure in the
different parts of the digestive tract experimental animals in a study of the toxicity of polysorb.
Material and methods: Polysorb (Aerosil, Оxіl, Atoxil) was used in following doses: 10 g/kg – a single injection;
100, 330 and 1000 mg/kg – at tenfold or monthly injections. Experiments were conducted on white laboratory rats and
chinchilla breed rabbits. All animals were sexually mature males. The body structure was studied on histological materials,
painted with hematoxylin-eosin.
Results: Polisorb does not lead to pathological changes in studied structures. There were no irregularities found in
esophagus and stomach shells neither for rats nor for rabbits in the same toxicity conditions. In the thin intestine a violation of the integrity of the epithelial apical part of the villi and infiltration of their stroma by lymphocytes was revealed,
which can be explained by physiological regeneration and adaptation in the process of digestion. Accumulation of mucoid
secretion in the goblet cells of the epithelial lining of the wall of the colon can be attributed to adaptive phenomena too.
Conclusions: Polysorbdoesnotpossesstoxicpropertiesinrelationtothestructuralcomponentsofthedigestivetractandissafeforprolongedoralapplication. |
