Abstract: Introduction. One in four people will suffer a stroke in their lifetime, so stroke can affect all of us. The person who develops a stroke needs ultra-fast access to the medical facility able to provide him specialized medical assistance. Thus, knowing the onset signs and symptoms is crucial in the management of this pathology. Aim of study. Evaluation of the degree of information and awareness about stroke among patients admitted in the neurological departments of IMSP SCM "Sfânta Treime". Methods and materials. For data collection, a transversal questionnaire was elaborated, which includes the set of questions with multiple choice options, which allowed it to be easily completed by the patients. Results. During the period from March 20 to May 20, 2023, a total of 105 responses were collected. Of which 15 were invalidated, due to incomplete answers. According to the obtained results, 25% of respondents believe that stroke affects the heart and cannot be treated. 13% of them believe that at the critical moment it is necessary to call relatives for help. Only 34% recognized limitation of movements on one side of the body as a sign of stroke, and only 27% aware about speech disturbances. 36% have sought for the emergency assistance and only 17% know that stroke can be treated. Conclusion. The research study shows that people often do not recognize the key signs of a stroke and do not immediately seek emergency medical attention. Because the therapeutic window for a stroke is very narrow, most do not reach the hospital in time and are not eligible for revascularization treatment. us.
