Abstract: | In children with atopic dermatitis there are some expected changes of IL-2, IL-4 and TNF-α in blood serum. In all clinical forms of the disease an
increase of serum cytokine levels of IL-2, IL-4 and TNF-α was detected, which was combined with the increase in the SCORAD index and the total serum
IgE levels. There were no significant differences in the levels of these cytokines for extrinsic and intrinsic forms of atopic dermatitis patients. The significant
correlations were revealed between IL-4 and IgE levels in all forms of atopic dermatitis, confirming the ongoing Th2 response in atopic dermatitis flares.
The positive correlations between IL-2 and TNF- α suggest the pro-inflammatory ground towards infiltrative and chronic forms of atopic dermatitis. |
