Abstract: The inclusion of zinc picolinate in the basic treatment of patients with parodontitis reduce the lipoperoxidation level. So changes were made also for malondialdehyde (MDA), metabolits of nitric oxid (NO) and total antioxidant activity (AAT) has been rising continuously. At all stages of research (6 and 12 months) an important amelioration was detected, more evident at 6 months when the changes of lipid hydroperoxide (HPL), MDA, NO and AAT were inconclusive. Studies have shown, that in patients undergoing standard treatment, reaction of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant systems on the way was different, but with insignificant changes compared to the initial period, when HPL and MDA have remained higher and the decrease of AAT was persisted throughout all the period of observation.
