Abstract: The quality of a service is often defined as “a set of characteristic properties of a service, which provides the ability to meet the expressed or implied needs”. Given the characteristics of the services (intangibility, variability, inseparability etc.), the quality is difficult to define, it should be perceived both based on the process of health care service delivery and the actual results, expressed through patient satisfaction. Assessament performed by the patient represents the absolute and final measure of the quality of medical services. Calitatea unui serviciu este definită cel mai adesea ca “un ansamblu de proprietăţi caracteristice ale unui serviciu care îi conferă acestuia aptitudinea de a satisface necesităţile, exprimate sau implicate”. Date fiind caracteristicile serviciilor (intangibiletate, variabilitate, inseparabilitate, eterogenitate ect.), calitatea este greu de definit, ea trebuie percepută atît pe baza procesului de prestare a serviciului medical, cît şi a rezultatelor propriu – zise, exprimate prin satisfacţia pacientului. Evaluarea efectuată de către pacient constituie măsura absolută şi finală a calităţii serviciului medical.
