Abstract

Summary. Renal dysfunction is a common and serious problem in patients with advanced liver diseases. kidney hemodynamic derangement in cirrhosis can be present before clinical signs or increased levels of blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine concentrations become detectible. Color Doppler ultrasonography was performed at 114 patients with cirrhosis, including 23 patients with hepato-renal syndrome. Increased renal resistance was constant in class Child-Pugh C cirrhosis and high resistant renal index was detected in hepato-renal syndrome.
