Introduction. One of the main elements for supervising the activity and performance of the University
Pharmaceutical Center (UPC) is related to economic and financial analysis being a complex process
involving the interdependence between the preparation, circulation, distribution, provision of
pharmaceutical services and consumption of pharmaceuticals and parapharmaceuticals. Purpose. Systemic study of University Pharmaceutical Center (UPC) dynamics through the analysis of
economic activity.
Material and methods. Statistical reports processing according to various indicators using Excel.
Results. Recent years, the economic activity of the university center has been affected by a number of
changes, both legislative and economic. According to the statistical analysis performed, based on the
management report for the years 2019-2020, there is a significant variation of profit indices in
economic and financial activity
The researches and calculations performed by the comparative analysis of the values of the entries
within the Industrial Forms section, show that the highest commercial discount obtained is attested in
the first quarter of 2020 (fig.1) in the amount of 94 583.35 lei, with 25% more compared to the first
quarter of 2019 and a decrease of about 50% in the following quarter of 2020.
The same phenomenon registers the commercial discount obtained from the value of outflows for the
first quarter of 2020 (fig.2) in the amount of 14,269.66 lei, with approx. 52% more than in the same
quarter of the previous year, continuing with a significant decrease of about 62% in the second quarter
of 2020. The increase of the commercial rebate in this
quarter, both in terms of input and output,
was influenced by a series of factors (Table 1). Per pharmacy, however, there is no increase
in economic indices, conditioned by the
irrational location of community pharmacies
in the immediate vicinity of the CFU against
legal provisions. Within the production section of the CFU, the volume of
preparation of medicines according to individual prescriptions
has increased significantly, given the fact that we currently have a
small number of pharmacies with a production section. However,
due to the low costs, there is no increase in economic indices. In
the cold period of the year, the demand rate is the highest, so in
the first quarter of 2020 the value of entries allowed an increase
in gross income with 30169.1 lei (32%), with19% more than in
the first quarter of the previous year ( Figure 3). Respectively,
this also conditioned a big increase of the commercial rebate
from the value of outflows. From fig. 4 it is attested that the value of the maximum
commercial discount was obtained in the fourth quarter of
2019, being 257774.83 lei (18%). This value is due to the fact
that the technological process, in addition to the preparation
of medicines according to individual prescriptions, also
includes the preparation of medicinal forms in the form of
elaborations intended for medical institutions (for inpatients).
But this is not total gross income. The pharmaceutical company in the production process also bears expenses for packaging, communal
services, etc., the only source of coverage is the Labor Tax and the cost for purified water, which only
partially covers the consumption of auxiliary materials used in the preparation of medicinal forms, the
salary of employees involved in this process and other expenses. Conclusions. In order to improve the economic situation, sustainable development of the activity by
increasing the incomes from achievements, avoiding unjustified expenses and optimizing them,
introducing new pharmaceutical services, etc. will generate the increase and improvement of performance
indicators. |
