Abstract:
According to the American Diabetes Association, type 3c diabetes mellitus (DM), is considered DM due to pancreatic diseases (chronic pancreatitis, trauma/pancreatoectomy, neoplasia, cystic fibrosis, hemochromatosis, fibro-calculus pancreatopathy, other pancreatic pathologies). Studies show that this severe pathology is often underestimated or misdiagnosed, despite the fact that it has a high prevalence, evolutionary and treatment features. Endocrine function disorders was confirmed in 65,79% of the patients with latent chronic pancrea-titis in the present study, which warns of the strict monitoring of all patients with chronic pancreatitis for early and accurate diagnosis of type 3c DM.
