Abstract:
Background. Current studies highlight the importance of sleep for the recovery of brain tissue and the
formation of new neural connections after a stroke. At the same time, sleep disorders (SD) after a stroke
predispose to recurrence, increase the risk of mortality and worsen functional recovery. Objective of
the study. was to investigate the peculiarities of SD in children with ischemic stroke and to correlate
these disorders with the results of neurological recovery. Material and Method. Prospective study on
a group of 22 children with ischemic stroke (> 6 months), hospitalized in the neurology departments of
MSIP MCI. SD were assessed using the Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children, neurological deficiencies
- Pediatric Stroke Outcome Measure (PSOM) and Functional Ambulation Scale (FAS) score for
children. Statistical analysis used - Spearman correlation coefficient. Results. Of the general group of
children, 12 were boys (54.5%) and 10 girls (45.5%). The age of the children ranged from 2 to 8 years
(Mean 5,4 SD + / 1,1 years). According to the standardized T score of the Sleep Disturbance Scale for
Children questionnaire, SD were present in 16 children (72.7%). The Spearman correlation coefficient
between both the SD score and the PSOM score, as well as the SD and FAS score indicated a strong
positive correlation (ρ Spearman’s rho correlation coefficient 0.88 (P < 0,001) and 0.84 (P < 0,001),
respectively). Conclusion. SD is common in children with stroke and strongly correlates with
neurological deficits. Identifying children with post-stroke SD and providing information on the
importance of sleep can improve the results of long-term recovery and improve the quality of life in
these children. Introducere. Studiile actuale valorifică importanța somnului pentru recuperarea țesutului cerebral și
formarea noilor conexiuni neuronale după un accident vascular cerebral (AVC). Totodată, tulburările de
somn(TS) după un AVC predispun la recurență, cresc riscul de mortalitate și agravează recuperarea
funcțională. Scopul lucrării. Cercetarea particularităților TS la copii cu AVC ischemic și corelarea
acestor tulburări cu rezultatele recuperării neurologice. Material și Metode. Studiu prospectiv pe un lot
de 22 de copii cu AVC ischemic suportat (>6 luni), internați în secțiile de neurologie ale IMSP IMC. TS
au fost evaluate utilizând chestionarul Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children, deficitul neurologic-
Pediatric Stroke Outcome Measure (PSOM) și Functional Ambulation Scale (FAS) score for children.
Analiza statistică utilizată - coeficientul de corelație Spearman. Rezultate. Din lotul general de copii,
12 au fost băieți (54,5%) și 10 fete (45,5%). Vârsta copiilor a fost cuprinsă între 2 și 8 ani (Media 5,4
SD +/1,1 ani). Conform scorului standardizat T al chestionarului Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children,
TS au fost prezente la 16 copii (72,7%). Coeficientul de corelație Spearman atât dintre scorul TS și
scorul PSOM, cât și dintre scorul TS și FAS a indicat o corelație puternică pozitivă (ρ Spearman’s rho
correlation coefficient 0.88 (P < 0,001) și, respectiv, 0.84 (P < 0,001)). Concluzii. TS sunt frecvent
întâlnite la copiii cu AVC și corelează puternic cu deficitele neurologice. Identificarea copiilor cu TS
post-AVC și oferirea informațiilor referitor la importanța somnului pot îmbunătăți rezultatele recuperării
pe termen lung și ameliorarea calității vieții la acești copii.
