Bioethical guidelines in the management of complications in COVID19 patients

Abstract

Background. The new COVID-19 took by surprise the medical field and the immunity of the population. Given the sensitivity of the population to the new COVID-19, the frequency of complications is significant. In order to determine the risk factors, it is necessary to establish the point of view of bioethics. Objective of the study. The highlighting of the bioethical aspects required for optimal and uncomplicated treatment of COVID-19. Material and Methods. Various guidelines were consulted and both national and international reference scientific publications, sociological investigations and statistical data on the topic were studied. Methods applied in this study: sociological, analytical-descriptive and bioethical. Results. The study highlighted the particularities of the clinical evolution in patients with COVID-19 and the variety of risk factors and complications of COVID-19. Complications include: acute respiratory failure, pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), septic shock, or excessive inflammatory response. The practical application of bioethics in this case is essential for the good of the patient and also to avoid the pressure on the medical system. Conclusion. The process of treatment of patients with COVID-19 complications highlights many bioethical issues. Thus, the need for practical elaborations on medical tactics, according to bioethical requirements, is emphasized. Introducere. Noul COVID-19 a luat prin surprindere domeniul medical și imunitatea populației. Având în vedere sensibilitatea populației la noul COVID-19, frecvența complicațiilor este semnificativă. Pentru a stabili factorii de risc în managementul clinic s-a abordat problema sub aspect bioetic. Scopul lucrării. Evidențierea aspectelor bioetice necesare pentru tratamentul optim și fără complicații la pacienții infectați cu COVID-19. Material și Metode. Au fost consultate diverse ghiduri și au fost studiate atât publicații ştiinţifice autohtone, cât și internaționale de referinţă, investigații sociologice şi date statistice la temă. În acest studiu s-au aplicat metodele: sociologică, analitico-descriptivă și bioetică. Rezultate. Studiul a evidențiat particularitățile evoluției clinice la pacienții cu COVID-19, aspectele factorilor de risc și ale complicațiilor COVID-19. Complicațiile includ: insuficiență respiratorie acută, pneumonie, sindromul de detresă respiratorie acută (ARDS), șoc septic sau răspuns inflamator excesiv. Aplicarea practică a bioeticii în acest caz este primordial atât pentru binele pacientului, cât și pentru evitarea surplusului de presiune asupra sistemului medical. Concluzii. Îngrijirea pacienților cu complicații COVID-19 evidențiază numeroase probleme bioetice. Astfel, se subliniază necesitatea efectuării unor elaborări practice privind tactica medicală, care să corespundă cerințelor bioetice.
