Summary The tonsils are situated at the entrance of the respiratory and alimentary tracts and represent the first site of contact with a variety
of microorganism and other antigenic substances present in food and inhaled air. The purpose of this article is to present the
immunologic physiology of the tonsils and their role as active immunologic organs of the entire upper aerodigestive tract. In pediatric
otorhinolaryngological clinic we treated 250 childrens with chronic tonsillitis since 1993 / 2007. In 80-85% of cases we obtain pozitive
results after selection of treatment modalities. |
