Summary. Purpose. To increase efficiency of dental caries prevention in children
with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) by topical application of nanofluorides.
Material and Methods: The clinical material of this article is
data investigation of 112 children aged between 12 and 14 years. Of them,
56 were diagnosed with GERD, and 56 children were healthy controls. The
frequency and intensity indices of dental caries have been estimated, as well
as the salivary pH and test of enamel resistance to acids. Complex caries-preventive
methods were used in children with GERD, including topical application
of nanofluorides and fluoride varnish Belak-F. The study was approved
by the Research Ethics Committee and it was carried out after obtaining
the written consent of the children`s parents or their legal representatives.
Results. A reduction of dental caries indicators by 33.33% was estimated in
children with GERD who followed topical applications with nanofluorides
compared with children who followed topical application with fluoride varnish
Belak-F. Conclusions: (1) Implementation of complex preventive measures
in children with GERD of group L1 contributed to reduction of dental
caries indicators by 33.33% compared with group L2. (2) It was demonstrated
a high effectiveness of topical application of nanofluorides within 1.5
years, which resulted in improving the health and quality of life of children.
