Abstract:
Dysmenorrhea or painful menstruation, is the most common gynecological disorder
among teenage girls and young women, beeng the main cause of school absenteeism. Changes in uterine blood flow and endothelial dysfunction are important factors in the pathophysiology of
dysmenorrhea. It is shown that the endothelium plays a crucial role in maintaining vascular tone
and structure. One of the major vasoactive mediators derived from endothelium is nitric oxide
(NO). ADMA acts as an autocrine regulator of endothelial nitric oxide synthase activity and is
recognized as a strong marker of endothelial dysfunction. The goal of this study was to
investigate the level of asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) in patients with primary
dysmenorrhea. Our results showed high levels of dimetilargininei asymmetric (ADMA) in
patients with primary dysmenorrhea, suggesting the possibility that endothelial disorders play a
significant role in the etiopathogenesis of primary dysmenorrhea.
Dismenoreea sau menstruația dureroasă, reprezintă cea mai frecventă afecțiune
ginecologică printre adolescente și femeile tinere, fiind principala cauză a absenteismului școlar.
Modificările fluxului sanguin uterin și disfuncția endotelială sunt factori importanți în
fiziopatologia dismenoreei. Este demonstrat faptul că endoteliul joacă un rol crucial în
menținerea tonusului și structurii vasculare. Unul din mediatorii vasoactivi majori derivați din
endoteliu este oxidul nitric (NO). ADMA acționează ca un reglator autocrin al activității nitric
oxid sintetazei endoteliale și este recunoscută ca marker puternic al disfuncției endoteliale.
Scopul studiului prezent a fost investigarea nivelului dimetilargininei asimetrice (ADMA) la
pacientele cu dismenoree primară. Rezultatele studiului nostru au demonstrat nivele ridicate ale
dimetilargininei asimetrice (ADMA) la pacientele cu dismenoree primară, sugerând posibilitatea
ca dereglările endoteliale să joace un rol semnificativ în etiopatogeneza dismenoreei primare.
