This review will shortly summarize the latest facts about septic complications in the puerperium and mention the impact of the risk factors upon maternal health. The importance of postpartum genital tract flora change, operative delivery quality standard, as well as medical and social factors, is primary for the beginning of the afterbirth complications. Currently, the main aim is the prevention of septic complications in the puerperium, through finding out the factors that contribute to this, including the delivery through caesarean section. On the other hand, the rising number of operative delivery and invasive investigations will lead to high frequency of complications after birth. The level of maternal death reflects the quality of the health care system, women access to appropriate health care, evaluates the risks of pregnancy and birth, women’s health and social and economic status, as well as the overall society development.
Articolul reprezintă revista literaturii în care sunt descrise date recente referitor la complicaţiile septice puerperale şi impactul factorilor de risc asupra sănătăţii materne. Importanţa modificării biocenozei căilor genitale postpartum, a standardului calităţii rezolvării operatorii a sarcinii cît şi a factorilor medico-sociali, este primordială în apariţia şi evoluţia complicaţiilor după naştere. Actualmente, se pune accent pe prevenirea complicaţiilor septice puerperale, prin elucidarea factorilor predispozanţi, precum ar fi rezolvarea operatorie a sarcinii. Pe de altă parte, creşterea numărului de operaţii cezariene şi a investigaţiilor invazive, vor duce la sporirea frecvenţei complicaţiilor după naştere. Nivelul mortalităţii materne reflectă calitatea sistemului ocrotirii sănătăţii, accesul femeii la asistenţa medicală, corespunzătoare necesităţilor ei, evaluează riscurile sarcinii şi naşterii, sănătatea femeii şi statutul ei social şi economic, precum şi dezvoltarea societăţii în ansamblu.
