Abstract:
Summary. 30 patients aged between 45 and 55, with benign prostate hyperplasia and androgenic alopecia (type II-III Hamilton) received finasterid 5mg daily for 6 and more months. An urologist and trichologist did the results evaluation. After 6 months, we recorded various hair regeneration degrees in 60% of the patients. Mean IPSS score decreased by 3,7 points. Mean prostate volume was reduced from 75 cm3 to 60 cm3 in 6 months. There were no notable side effects. No patient stopped the therapy. Use of finasteride for benign prostate hyperplasia improves not only urological but also trichological characteristics.
