Abstract:
Summary. We have determined the quality of life of 10 dialysis patients treated one month with phosphate binders and 12 patients from control group. 6 months later, these patients were asked about their quality of life using SF-36 questionnaire. Phosphate binders’ treatment improved pain syndrome and emotional role playing in dialyzed patients. Half-year prospective study demonstrated that the patients with the lower 20% result of the quality of life have 16 times more risk of -5 points decrease in overall quality of life score and 8 times higher chance of hospitalization.
