Introducere. Prevalenta înaltă a edentatiei unidentare în populaţie, afectarea diferitor aspecte ale vieţii pacienţilor, inclusiv înfăţişarea, funcţia, relaţiile interpersonale şi calitatea vieţii, adresabilitatea sporită a pacienţilor şi existenţa mai multor tipuri de tratament argumentează actualitatea efectuării unui studiu comparativ a tratamentului edentaţiei unidentare prin metoda clasică cu proteze parţiale fixe convenţionale şi prin tratament modern cu suprastructuri protetice pe im- plante. Actualitatea existentă se explică prin atitudinea populaţiei faţă de aspectul său estetic şi dorinţa de a păstra dinţii limitrofi breşei edentate fără utilizarea acestora ca elemente de agregare în construcţii protetice.
Material şi metode. Din bazele de date PubMed şi Scopus (Elsevier) au fost selectate articolele publicate în perioada 2000-2017 după cuvintele cheie: edentaţie unidentară, proteză parţială fixă, implant dentar, restaurare implanto-protetică. A fost selectată şi procesată informaţia despre clasificarea, etiologia, prevalenţa şi metodele de tratament ale edentaţiei unidentare, tipurile de proteze parţiale fixe, implantări dentare şi restaurări protetice pe implanturi, supravieţuirea, succesul, complicaţiile şi calitatea vieţii legată de sănătatea orală la pacienţii cu edentaţie unidentară trataţi cu proteze parţiale fixe şi cu sisteme implanto-protetice.
Rezultate. După procesarea informaţiei din bazele de date PubMed şi Scopus (Elsevier), conform criteriilor de căutare au fost găsite 625 de articole privind tratamentul edentaţiei unidentare. Bibliografia finală conţine 52 de surse relevante, inclusiv articole publicate în Republica Moldova, care au fost considerate reprezentative pentru materialele publicate la tema acestui articol de sinteză.
Concluzii. Cariile dentare şi maladia parodontală sunt cauzele majore ale edentaţiei parţiale. Nu există o corelaţie între sexe pentru edentaţia parţială, iar vârsta are un efect semnificativ. Prevalenţa edentaţiei unui dinte permanent este de 2,88,0% şi este mai frecventă în zonele posterioare ale maxilarelor. Tratamentul edentaţiei unidentare cu coroane pe suport de implant, comparativ cu instalarea protezelor parţiale fixe convenţionale, prezintă o rată superioară de supravieţuire pe termen lung, o îmbunătăţire mai importantă a funcţiei, esteticii, calităţii vieţii şi satisfacţiei pacienţilor. Această modalitate de tratament este mult mai rentabilă în situaţiile clinice care implică dinţi cu restaurări minore sau fără restaurări şi/sau condiţii osoase favorabile.
Introduction. The high prevalence of single edentulism in people, affecting various aspects of patients’ lives, including appearance, function, interpersonal relationships and quality of life, increased patient addressability, and the existence of multiple ways of treatment justifies the actuality of a comparative study of the treatment of single edentulism using the classical method with fixed parţial prostheses and modern treat- ment with implant-supported prostheses. The existing actu- ality is explained by the attitude of the population towards its aesthetic appearance and the desire to keep the remaining natural teeth next to the edentulous gap without using them as elements of aggregation in prosthetic constructions.
Material and methods. The articles published between 2000 and 2017 were selected from the PubMed and Scopus (Elsevier] databases, by the keywords: single edentulism, fixed parţial prosthesis, dentai implant, impiant-prosthetic restoration. Data on classification, etiology, prevalence and methods of treatment of single edentulism, types of fixed par- tial prostheses, dental implants and prosthetic restorations on implants, survival, success, complications and the quality of life related to oral health in single edentulous patients with fixed parţial prostheses and impiant-prosthetic systems.
Results. After processing the information from the PubMed and Scopus (Elsevier) databases, according to the search criteria, 625 articles on the treatment of single edentulism were found. The final bibliography contains 52 relevant sources, including articles published in the Republic of Moldova, which were considered representative for the mate- rials published on the subject of this article.
Conclusions. Dental caries and periodontal disease are the major causes of the partial edentulism. There is no gen- der correlation for parţial teeth loss, but age has a significant effect. The prevalence of the permanent tooth edentulism is 2.8-8.0% and is more common in the posterior areas of the jaws. The treatment of single edentulism using crowns on implant support, compared with the installation of conventional parţial fixed prosthesis, has a higher long-term survival rate, a more significant improvement in function, aesthetics, quality of life and patient satisfaction. This treatment is gainful in clinical situations involving teeth with minor restorations or without restorative and/or favorable bone conditions.
