Aspecte situaționale privind fenomenul de medicalizare

Abstract

Introducere. În scopul susţinerii evoluţiei medicinei şi al depăşirii provocărilor existente, în vizorul acestui domeniu se face tot mai remarcabil fenomenul de medicalizare. Scopul prezentei lucrări reprezintă aprecierea impactului pe care îl are fenomenul de medicalizare asupra individului prin elucidarea aspectelor ce au generat schimbarea percepţiei despre corp, prin prisma unei retrospective, dar şi interpretarea situaţiei actuale în ceea ce priveşte medicalizarea. Material şi metode. A fost realizată o cercetare retro- şi prospectivă privind fenomenul de medicalizare în scopul elucidării evoluţiei percepţiei şi atitudinii faţă de sănătate şi boală, precum şi modul în care unele probleme considerate, în trecut, de ordin social, astăzi, cad sub incidenţa medicalizării, fapt ce se datorează, în mare parte, dezvoltării industriei farmaceutice şi a tehnologiilor biomedicale. Rezultate. Tabloul stării de sănătate al indivizilor în societatea modernă denotă faptul că am devenit ipohondri prin faptul că suntem preocupaţi într-un mod exagerat de starea noastră de sănătate. Conştientizarea importanţei formării unei mentalităţi asupra propriei sănătăţi reprezintă dezideratul primordial într-o societate în care patologiile au devenit tot mai numeroase din cauza distorsiunii limitelor dintre sănătate şi boală. Concluzii. Tabloul stării de sănătate al indivizilor în societatea modernă denotă faptul că am devenit ipohondri prin faptul că suntem preocupaţi într-un mod exagerat faţă de starea noastră de sănătate. Astfel, ajungem să creăm o obsesie pentru menţinerea unei bune stări de sănătate şi, în acelaşi timp, frica de o eventuală îmbolnăvire, fără a exista vreun temei obiectiv în acest sens.

Introduction. In order to support the evolution of medicine and to overcome the existing challenges, the phenomenon of medicine becomes more and more remarkable in the field of medicine. The purpose of this paper is to assess the impact of the medicalization phenomenon on the individual by elucidating the aspects that generated the change of perception about the body through a retrospective but also the interpretation of the current situation regarding medicalization. Material and methods. A retrospective and prospective research on the medicalization phenomenon was conducted in order to elucidate the evolution of perception and attitude towards health and illness as well as the way in which some problems, considered in the past socially, are now subject to medical treatment, which is largely due to the development of the pharmaceutical industry and biomedical technologies. Results. The picture of the individuals’ state of health in modern society denotes the fact that we have become hypochondriac by being preoccupied in an exaggerated way for our health. Awareness of the importance of forming a mentality on one’s own health is the primary desideratum in a society where pathologies have become more and more numerous due to the distortion of the boundaries between health and disease. Conclusions. The picture of the individuals’ state of health in modern society denotes the fact that we have become hypochondriac by being preoccupied in an exaggerated way for our health. This is how we create an obsession for maintaining good health and, at the same time, fear of a possible illness without an objective basis in this respect.
