Digital repositories of the universities from Republic of Moldova – requirements and development perspectives

Abstract

The institutional repository forms the digital intellectual capital of the university. It is an essential component of scientific dissemination and a way of managing the scientific content produced by the academic community, as well as an effective tool to increase the visibility of authors, research results and the university image as a whole . The article presentss the current development of institutional repositories created within the project „Modern Information Services for Improvement Study Quality „ (MISISQ), the content and the impact of repositories on the academic community. Although many important activities have been carried out in the development of repositories in the Republic of Moldova, in the future there are necessary improvements in the creation of authors’ profiles, bibliometric tools, attribution of unique identifiers, integration of repositories in a unique system, etc.
