Abstract: Abstract The main causes of failure in timpanomastoidectomy by CWD are inadequate removed mast cells, the presence of bone growths, high facial massive and inadequate meatoplastia. The most common microorganisms, isolated from middle ear smears of patients with suppurate chronic otitis media, are Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus, susceptible to fluoroquinolones and cephalosporins. Problematic mastoid cavity presents significant socioeconomic effects. Hearing loss and otorrhea may contribute to social and professional inhibition, to significant restrictions in lifestyle, with a negative socioeconomic impact.
